It is a serene and well-maintained town in the Kyiv region. This is a place where people used to enjoy fishing on the Zdvyzh River, attend photo exhibitions at the Cultural Center, and unwind in local parks. While its history dates back to the 16th century, archaeological findings reveal settlements from Neolithic times on its grounds.

In February and March 2022, the Makariv community, like many others in the Kyiv region, bravely faced the russian troops during the defense of Kyiv. For nearly a month, the community endured occupation. Preliminary assessments indicate that the settlement suffered around 40% destruction.

In April 2022, the process of reconstruction commenced. According to the restoration concept of Makariv territorial community, 41,3% of representatives is in favor of enhancing the livability of settlements. Notably, the community placed emphasis on the revitalization of Panskyi Park.
