On October 4, the photo exhibition began to mark Makariv Day. It was named '33 Days' and aimed to depict war and occupation in a new light. We used previously unpublished photos from the times of the community's occupation.
The exhibition will last for seven days, concluding on October 10. The photos give an opportunity to experience the occupation from a first-person perspective. The exhibition primarily features the works of residents. The photos, mainly, had not been used in other events or by the media. The main ideologist and curator of the exhibition is Vitaliy Hedz, a historian and a resident of the Makariv community. The event is also curated by Veronika Mol, an artist who specializes in instant photography.
On the opening day, at noon, there was a screening of documentary films at the 'Ol’via' cinema. These films provided context for the exhibition and revealed the role of Makariv during russia's military aggression in Northern Ukraine. Among the films there were:
- War Maps: How the Ukrainian Armed Forces Forced the russians to Flee from Kyiv Region. The Battle for Makariv
- The Fortress - Makariv
- They Defended Makariv
On October 6, the exhibition was moved to Horodysche of Panskyi Park. It will serve as a temporary exhibit at the Local History Museum. In the future, '33 Days' will embark on a tour with the Makariv community, after which the photos will be passed on for an exhibition in Wandlitz, Makariv's sister city.
